Wattage is used as a measurement of the electricity your LED lights consume.
With incandescent bulbs, watts were a pretty useful measurement because electricity input and light intensity output (in lumens) were directly connected.
With LED lights, many other factors come into play including the LED chip in question, the density of that chip, the optics, driver and heat sink. Often, increased wattage with LED lights actually leads to a reduction in efficiency so be very wary indeed of using wattage as an accurate benchmark of the quality of the best inexpensive LED grow lights.

If you want to determine how much beneficial light your LEDs will emit and how much good this will do your plants, you need to think about the PAR of the lights. PAR is an abbreviation for Photosynthetically Active Radiation.
When plants perform photosynthesis, they can only harness wavelengths between 400 and 700 nanometers.
Most LED grow lights emit light well within this range so, rather than fixating on wattage, think about the PAR rating of your lights.
